Class #4

I have been following each of your blogs and they are looking great! I am impressed. One suggestion - Please don't wait to the last minute to do your postings. The more detailed your information, the more you will have to refer back to in years to come. You don't want to begin to plan a lesson and become frustrated because you can't remember "that fraction activity."

I hope you were able to begin bookmarking your websites in delicious or diigo. This will be a wonderful database for your personal resources as well as a way to access the resources of others. The tag system will make it very easy for you to pull websites on a particular topic. Here is an article that compares & contrasts the two sites. Choose whichever one best suits your needs.

Here are some videos regarding Delicious.

Those of you who have been able to complete your screencast -- WOW!!! Impressive!! Remember all the ways we listed that this will be useful for...substitute teachers, absent students, homework problems...just to name a few. A couple of you have had trouble with using jing. I have found the easiest way to include a jing screencast in your blog is by linking to it rather than embedding it.

Here are a couple of good jing tutorials.

Teacher Training Video - Jing

Here are some other screencast programs that you could use rather than jing. I have not tested any of these, but they have received good reviews in the blogs that I follow.

Class #3

Tonight the fun begins! We will be rotating through centers and looking at different ways to explore topics in number computation. I will also present a radically different approach to teaching multiplication. You will also begin evaluating number computation websites that are uploaded to the google site page for this class.  As always, don't forget to reflect on this week's class and post your reflections on your blog.
